Project Overview Catherine’s Cottage is a 13-room convent supporting the needs of Poor Handmaid Sisters with beginning stages of memory loss. Named after founding sister, Catherine Kasper, Catherine’s Cottage is an interpretation of the “Greenhouse Concept.”
Details Four Sister rooms are clustered in residential scale bedroom hallways just as yours might be arranged in your own home. Special attention is paid to allowing spaces of privacy and solace (Sister’s rooms), spaces for two to talk, spaces for four or five, and group gathering spaces for all in the cottage. Living and dining responsibilities will be shared among the Sisters with assistance by universal workers. Private outdoor porches, a protected courtyard and a common solarium connecting the Catherine Kasper Home all help to provide residents and guests many options of daily living.
Special attention was paid to construction materials and systems that preserve our environment.
Features (13) Bedroom units with showers, activity room, bathing spa, great room, prayer room, residential style kitchen, covered outdoor porches, landscape courtyard, solarium, screened porch.
