MKM architecture + design’s Zach Benedict receives George Pressler Under 40 Award

September 30, 2019

MKM architecture + design Principal, Zach Benedict, received the George Pressler Under 40 Award at the recent Healthcare Facilities Symposium in Boston, MA. The award is named after one of the earliest champions of the Healthcare Facilities Symposium, George Pressler. Pressler engaged new generations of leaders and advocated for young professionals to be more involved by speaking at, attending, and serving on committees for the symposium. The George Pressler Under 40 Award was created to honor his legacy and recognize a young professional who has demonstrated leadership and vision within the fields of healthcare planning, design, construction, and operations.

Benedict received the George Pressler under 40 Award in recognition of his leadership and vision, particularly in the intersection of public health, aging, and inclusive urban design. Zach's work on "Lifetime Community Districts" has explored how the design of inclusive civic space (projects that have ranged from Critical Access Hospitals to Public Libraries) can dramatically improve the health and well-being of people of all ages and abilities. His focus on the urban form’s ability to foster social interaction, garnish independence and provide effective models for healthy living have illustrated the important role healthcare facilities play in the development of the communities in which they serve. This holistic approach to the full care continuum ushers in collaborative innovation that can lead to improved outcomes in all healthcare settings and communities. MKM is proud to celebrate this recognition of his achievements and leadership.
