A member of the Lutheran Health Network, St. Joseph Hospital is dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of the ever-changing landscape of Fort Wayne.

MKM has worked with St. Joseph Hospital as a longstanding partner and advocate since 1991 on dozens of projects, from small joint commission document creation to large multi-million dollar renovations. Three of our most notable projects with St. Joseph Hospital include the Burn and Wound Center renovations, various Behavioral Health Unit renovations, and First Floor upgrades.

The $5.75 million Burn and Wound Center project developed over two phases. Phase 1 comprised of a 7,040 SF laboratory renovation within the 7th Floor South Wing, establishing updates and improvements for the hospital laboratory and support staff. Phase 2 involved the renovation of the Burn & Wound Center. 18,000 SF of the 2nd Floor North Wing was renovated, creating a twelve private-bed Burn Center, which included an operating, hydrotherapy, and treatment rooms. Adjacent to this unit, twelve exam rooms were designed within the Regional Wound Care Center. This project included a new fourteen-station hospital-wide pneumatic tube system.

Continuous work has been completed within the Behavioral Health Units on the 5th and 6th floors, spanning to both the north and south wings. On the 6th Floor South Wing, the 10,500 SF space was renovated into a general psychiatric unit, which included an intensive outpatient unit. Following these renovations, the 5th Floor North Wing expanded the existing unit by five patients beds. Support spaces such as dining/group therapy and consultation rooms, along physician dictation and nurse stations were also included. The 7,400 SF 5th Floor South Wing renovations consisted of six ECT Therapy Bays, three Endoscopy Procedure Rooms, and six Recovery Bays.

The 1st Floor has had numerous upgrades over the last few years as well. Along the exterior of the hospital, a new canopy and access ramp have been added, and the main hospital entry and emergency entry have been separated by a new centralized security station. Interior work has included renovations and reconfigurations of the registration areas, emergency expansion and upgrades, two cath lab renovations, and corridor upgrades.
