Fishbowl with Phil Stafford, Ph.D.

News

Every couple of months, MKM architecture + design shuts down our Downtown Fort Wayne office to host a public event we affectionately call the “Fishbowl.” It’s an afternoon where we invite some of our closest and most interesting friends to reflect on their careers, share their work, and discuss their ideas. With topics ranging from technology to toilet paper, the Fishbowl is intended to provide an intimate venue to talk, share, and learn about innovations in community health and well-being.

On June 6th at 3:30 p.m., the Fishbowl will feature Phil Stafford, Ph. D., Retired Director, Center on Aging & Community, Indiana University. A cultural anthropologist, Phil has been an advocate for the development of age and ability-friendly communities for three decades. He chairs the ASA NEST Council and his most recent book, Elderburbia: Aging with a Sense of Place in America, discussed the issues facing the country’s rapidly aging population. He is currently editing a volume entitled The Global Age-friendly Community Movement: A Critical Perspective for Berghahn Press. In 2014, Stafford received the Walter S. Blackburn Award from the Indiana Chapter American Institute of Architect’s Indiana Chapter for contributions to Indiana’s built environment. During the discussion, Phil will talk about disability, and illustrate the need for a more inclusive community development model.

Light refreshments and drinks will be served. Join us for an intimate conversation with Phil. Seats are limited – reserve your spot today!

Register for the event.

We hope to see you there!

Update, 6/10/17: In case you missed it, check out photos from this event!
