Fort Wayne, Indiana
A 100,000 SF apartment and mixed-use space has been integrated into a multi-phase, multi-year development to revive the historic Electric Works campus. Founded in 1883, for over eight decades, the campus was dedicated to electric motors, transformers, and other products manufactured by General Electric Co. The restoration of this once booming area of Fort Wayne has brought new purpose and life to the surrounding neighborhood while honoring its historical significance.
Positioned on the northeast portion of the campus, this new development will feature 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, 49 low-income housing units, and 16 market rate apartments. The first floor is dedicated to 24,000 SF of space, planned to serve as a restaurant and fitness center.
A combination of materials, including cast stone, brick, and fiber cement siding achieve the characteristics of a modern industrial aesthetic that mimics the historic feel of the west campus. The integrated project team worked closely to manage budget constraints and provide a modern urban living experience that can serve people of all ages and abilities for generations.
