News

Designing and delivering innovative healing environments throughout the Midwest.

MKM architecture + design (MKM) an award-winning and leading architecture and design firm, is proud to announce the opening of its newest office in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This expansion is another step in the firm’s continued growth in serving clients throughout the Midwest.

To better serve clients in the area, they’ve named Andy McLeod, AIA, LEED AP, EDAC, CDP, CMDCP, CPTED, to the firm’s leadership team as a Senior Associate within the new location. Andy comes to MKM with in-depth knowledge of the care continuum and a passion for designing effective senior living and long-term care spaces, enhancing the quality of life of residents and fostering a sense of well-being for people of all ages and abilities.

“Andy’s deep understanding of healthcare design and his commitment to servant leadership is an exciting addition to the firm as it looks to sustain long-lasting partnerships with clients across the care continuum,” said Zachary Benedict, president of MKM.

Andy earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Lawrence Technological University and his Master of Architecture at the University of Michigan. He serves as an advisor on the Strategic Planning and Operations Committees of Friendship Village of Kalamazoo, where he served on the board of directors, including as Board Chair, from 2016-2020.

MKM now operates offices in Indianapolis and Grand Rapids, with its headquarters based in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Throughout the year, MKM shuts down its Fort Wayne location to host a public event, affectionately called the Fishbowl. “This is a time when we invite a thought-provoking individual to share about their career, work, community, or big ideas they are working through,” said Zachary Benedict, AIA, LEED AP, President, MKM. “The intent is to provide an intimate venue to talk, share, and learn about innovations in community health and well-being.” Past Fishbowl discussions have ranged from artificial intelligence to social justice.
