MKM architecture + design wins American Institute of Architects Fort Wayne Design Awards

News

MKM architecture + design (MKM) recently received two Merit Awards by the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA) Fort Wayne branch for their work on Cameron Memorial Community Hospital and the Main Branch for La Porte County Public Library.

When asked, MKM Principal, Zach Benedict, said that “both projects worked hard to understand how they could reposition themselves as engaging civic spaces that were welcoming to people of all ages and abilities.” MKM worked with Cameron over a ten-year period to plan and design a substantial expansion and renovation to their existing Critical Access Hospital near downtown Angola, IN, to provide a welcoming care center and healing environment for the community. In La Porte, IN, MKM worked with staff to envision the historic Carnegie building into a modern public library equipped with expanded collection, teen area, and a new SPARK Lab for educational programming.
