Ascension St. Vincent Breaks Ground on New Micro Hospital

Representatives from Ascension St. Vincent, Purdue, and West Lafayette break ground.

A groundbreaking for Ascension St. Vincent's new micro hospital took place on November 8, 2022. The new development will be in the Discovery Park district of Purdue, serving the West Lafayette area by 2024. Purdue President Mitch Daniels, West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis, and officials from Ascension St. Vincent and Medxcel were in attendance for the event.

Phase 1 of construction is projected for completion in spring of 2024. The first phase will include a micro hospital with eight emergency room beds, seven inpatient beds, and other imaging and laboratory services. “(At Purdue), we’ve been 20 minutes from an emergency room. I don’t know how we let that continue, but Ascension is going to fix that problem for us,” said Daniels. The micro hospital has potential for future growth into a larger healthcare campus. Daniels shared, “That’s our goal, to turn micro into macro and for you to grow with us."
