2018 MKM Third-Year Ball State College of Architecture and Planning Design Competition Award Winners

News

For over 25 years, MKM architecture + design (MKM) has facilitated a scholarship for the Ball State College of Architecture and Planning. Having established an endowment specifically for these architecture students, the firm funds an annual design competition, awarding over $4,000 worth of prize money to the winning projects.

The 2018 ACSA Steel Competition for Transit Station Design was used as the basis for this spring’s six-week exploration. The transit station, whose theme was open to student designers, was to be located on a site in Gary, IN, adjacent to commercial space and Interstate 90. While standard elements such as concourses, ticketing areas, and restrooms were required in the design, retail, restaurant, office, and recreation spaces were also to be considered within the programming of the station.

The final jury consisted of:
Jerry Nix, MKM architecture + design
Corey Clark, MKM architecture + design
Sanford Garner, RGCollaborative
Karl Daubmann, Lawrence Tech
Steven Mankouche, University of Michigan

On April 25th, that jury selected the following awardees.
