A long-term relationship develops six facilities for one of the largest providers of women’s healthcare in Northeast Indiana.

Women's Health Advantage (WHA), a division of Associated Surgeons and Physicians, is one of the largest providers of women's health care in Northeast Indiana with Board-certified physician specialists and certified mid-level
providers. WHA is a full-service OB-GYN office, offering in-house lab, ultrasound, mammography, uro-gynecology, and maternal fetal medicine. Prior to establishing their main campus, WHA came to MKM to discuss how a new facility could assist them in achieving their strategic vision to:

  • Promote efficiencies and economies of scale in practice operations (e.g.,
group-wide EMR, combination of offices and other infrastructure)

  • Bring physicians in various medical and surgical specialties together for managed care contracting purposes

  • Improve quality of care delivered to patients by developing subspecialty practices, and future recruitment and retention of physicians in practice specialties which cannot be supported by smaller groups

  • Provide a vehicle for relationships with hospitals

  • Organizational platform for the recruitment and retention of quality
    physicians to the community

  • Protection from changing political landscape

  • Provide leadership in moving to a value-based reimbursement system

Through the design of a new 36,900 SF medical office building that replaced
leased space and promised to reduce long-term costs, the two-level facility
included a daylight lower level and first floor housing three pods containing eleven exam rooms each (33 total exam rooms). A diagnostic and treatment suite included ultrasound, mammogram rooms, and a lab, while administration, billing, finance,
and phone nurses were relocated to the new building as well.  Since the first building, MKM has successfully designed six other locations for WHA.
All with the same goal – providing quality care that supports her advantage.
